Why a microfiber cloth is a smart choice
- Microfiber cloths are especially safe for optics: the fine split fibers trap dust and oils rather than dragging them across surfaces, minimizing scratch risk.
- They work well for everyday smudges: you can clean fingerprints and grime gently with them.
- They’re reusable (if maintained) and more cost-effective for long term optical care.

- Lint-free and ultra-soft material (so you don’t scratch anti-reflective or other delicate coatings) — microfiber is ideal because it traps dirt rather than dragging it.
- Good size for cleaning lenses comfortably (for example ~15-17 cm square) so you can wipe both lenses and the frames if needed.
- Dedicated for eyewear (and keep it clean) — if you use it on other surfaces (e.g., rough frames, dust-laden screens) you risk embedding grit that may scratch.
- Optionally anti-fog or special coatings if you have specific eyewear (for e.g., prescription lenses used in humid conditions). For instance, a cloth sold as “Anti-Fog Microfiber Cloth” exists.
